Our aim is to unravel early pathological mechanisms triggered in Alzheimer’s disease, to discover new therapeutic targets to combat neurodegeneration.

We model the human brain in three dimensions, using long-term human brain organoids grown from pluripotent stem cells — containing neurons, astrocytes and the brain’s own immune cells, the microglia.

Our interest is the pre-symptomatic, silent phase of the disease: the changes that happen inside the brain long before the first symptom appears, and which offer the best opportunity to intervene.
